Tips: Catatan Akhir Tahun


There are just a few hours left in 2007 and the holiday season is here. Now is a good time to take a look back at what's happened over the past year. Here is a short exercise that you can complete in about 30 minutes. It will enable you to:
* Celebrate your achievements over the past year
* Look at what you would like to achieve but didn't
* Figure out what you want to achieve in 2008
* Start planning specific ACTIONS that you need to take in order to achieve your goals

30 MINUTE WRAP-UP
1. Find somewhere quiet and comfortable to sit, and have a notebook and pen to hand.

2. Make a list of all your achievements this year - no matter how small. You may well be surprised at how much you have achieved! If you can't remember all the things that you achieved, how about doing a mini-review at the end of every month in 2008? This way, you can write down your achievements each month and celebrate - why wait until the end of the year?

3. Make a list of anything that you wanted to achieve in 2007 but didn't. Review the list, and see if you can figure out what stopped you from achieving each goal:
* What actions could you have taken to achieve the goals?
* Did you REALLY want to achieve them that much, or were they things that others expected of you? Very often, we fail to meet goals if they are not OUR goals, but someone else's expectations.
* Let go of all the things that didn't go as you expected them to, and appreciate what you HAVE achieved this year. If there are still things that you want to complete, put actions in your diary to complete them.

4. Make a list of things that you want to achieve in 2008. Each goal needs to be SMART:
Specific Measurable Attainable Realistic Timed (within a given Timeframe)

5. For each goal that you want to achieve, make a list of specific ACTIONS that you need to take in order to achieve them.

6. Plan time in your diary to take these ACTIONS - a goal is nothing without ACTIONS to make it happen. This point is really important if you are serious about reaching your goals. If you don't commit to taking ACTION, nothing will happen. Even taking just ONE small step a day towards a goal will pull you forwards and give you momentum. SUCCESS FORMULA: Goals + Plans + Actions + Intention = SUCCESS!
